The Sacred Window
The first 42 days after birth — known in Ayurvedic tradition as the sacred window — are among the most formative of a woman’s life. The care a mother receives in these 42 days shapes her health, her vitality, and her sense of self for the next 42 years.
At Open Channel, I believe that a nourished mother nourishes everything around her. My work is simple and ancient: I arrive in your home, I cook warm meals, I tend to your body, and I honor the miracle of what you’ve just been through. I trust your intuition. I trust your body. And I’m here to help you trust them too.
What is Ayurveda?
Ancient wisdom for the modern mother
Ayurveda is one of the world’s oldest healing systems, originating in India over 5,000 years ago. The word itself means the science of life — and at its heart, it’s a way of understanding the body as part of nature, not separate from it.
In Ayurvedic tradition, the postpartum period is considered one of the most vulnerable andsacred transitions a woman will ever move through. The practices I offer — nourishing warm meals, warm oil Abhyanga, rest support, and herbal care — come directly from this lineage.
They aren’t trendy. They’ve been tending to new mothers for millennia.
You don’t need to know anything about Ayurveda to receive this care. You just need to be willing to be nourished.
You don’t have to do this alone.
The postpartum season asks everything of you. Let someone take care of you for a while.
I’d love to hear about your birth, your family, and how I can support your sacred window.
